Move
catalyst
Obviously, no move achieves objectives unless it is properly considered
and planned. 'Move Catalyst' is a very simple modular service
designed to help organisations of all sizes and types get the move on an
efficient footing at an early stage in the process. It saves time
and provides expert guidance on critical success factors, organisation,
feasibility, milestones, issues, contracted services and what to budget
for.

The managed move project
RIS plans and manages successful, efficient, cost-effective moves for,
and with, its clients. Requirements inevitably vary, but the
question to answer each time is: "Who and/or what is to be moved, from
and to where, when, by whom and how?" The devil, they say, is in
the detail and RIS is renowned for its unique analytical style and a
structured approach that leaves little to chance. The ingredients for
success are covered under 10 key headings that reflect the majority of
client projects: manage; define; plan; communicate; resolve issues;
specify & tender; countdown; implement; complete and evaluate.

Coordinate the relocation
programme
The
physical move is often a sub-project of a wider relocation project
that needs to be joined-up and driven.
Sometimes,
the boundaries between ‘physical move’ and other aspects of
a project may not at first be clear.
Engaging RIS in the broader role of objective and experienced
client representative helps flush-out the issues that need to be
addressed, helps determine viable target dates for key tasks,
‘provides the glue’ between all involved parties (e.g. facilities,
property, fit-out, HR, IT and move) and helps ensure that everyone works
to common objectives in a coordinated way.

Removal quote +
Most moves necessitate the services of a competent and experienced
removals contractor. 'Removal Quote +' is a simple modular service
that impartially and professionally instructs removers in order to
obtain competitive prices for you. In addition to the benefits of
expert knowledge, it takes the guesswork out of which removers to
approach (but can cater for personal choice too) and, of course, saves
you time. Please note that, except for budgetary purposes, this
service is not suitable for major contracts that require a formal tender
process; see 'Removal Tenders' below.

Removal tenders
An essential component of most major move projects is the need to
accurately specify requirements and then formally tender the contract.
RIS has undertaken this exercise hundreds of times for its clients,
often as a modular service. By its very nature, the work has to
include defining and planning the move in sufficient detail to ensure
that the job can be accurately priced by removers. So as a
consequence, expert advice is provided with regard to methods,
practices, timing and procedures. An RIS specification acts as a
reference for the whole move project, not just 'the removal'. The
process is mapped out and agreed on appointment, including
prequalification if needed, and in consultation with client procurement
teams when appropriate. RIS manages the entire process with you,
ensures all necessary quality documentation is produced, analyses
proposals and completes its work when your contractor has been
successfully appointed.

Ongoing moves & 'churn'
Many organisations have a continual requirement to undertake moves
within an existing estate as business needs change. The
imperatives and objectives are the same as for a move to new premises,
but different issues of space and coordination can arise. It is
critical to have an efficient process, with the right people and
contracts in place. RIS is in a position to establish procedures,
or review existing arrangements if it is felt improvements could be
made, as well as helping ensure that the right framework agreements are
in place to deliver what you need efficiently.

Problem?
If you want advice or a second opinion on a particular move issue,
simply drop RIS an email. Replies are sent without obligation or
charge, though of course if something requires more than a reasonable
amount of time a fee will be quoted first.

Advice & support
Good advice can save hours of wasted time and effort or unnecessary
expense, as well as helping to avoid problems and deliver a quality
result. Practical advice goes hand in hand with everything RIS has
always done for its clients. But sometimes clients want advice
without anything else - perhaps just someone to maintain a watching
brief, for example, to help ensure everything is on track. Or
should we look at the unique opportunities the move presents? Or
is there something else that would benefit from a supportive,
experienced, analytical and objective eye?
